Maurean Adams named Park Foundation director of development (April 22, 2014)
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 24, 2014, Flat Rock, NC -- The Board of Directors of the Flat Rock Park and Recreation Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Maurean Adams as its first Director of Development.
The Foundation was established by the Village Council of Flat Rock to be the principal fundraising entity for the new 66-acre Park purchased by the Village in 2013.
Ms. Adams comes to this important post with strong credentials and deep roots in the community, having recently served as president of the Hendersonville Rotary Club and for nine years prior as Executive Director of the Children and Family Resource Center. She is currently on the board of the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina.
Maurean and her husband, David, have made their home in Henderson County since 1977 and raised their five children here.
Asked about her selection and what lies ahead, Maurean replied:
I could not be more honored to have been chosen to lead the Foundation’s efforts in support of the new Park at Flat Rock. My job will be to work with the board to raise the necessary funds to create, out of this beautiful green space, the most extraordinary park in the county, if not in the entire State of North Carolina. We all have a big – and very special – job ahead of us and I look forward to being part of an amazing fundraising team that turns 66-acres of meadows, streams, and wetlands into trails, playgrounds, open spaces and scenic spots for quiet contemplation that anyone of any age can enjoy.
At a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the perimeter trail at the Park earlier in this week, Flat Rock mayor, Bob Staton, applauded the Foundation’s choice of Ms. Adams, calling it “a real coup!”
