The Park at Flat Rock received funding (June 29, 2015)

June 29, 2015, Flat Rock, NC -- “The Flat Rock Park and Recreation Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $45,000 grant by the Perry N. Rudnick Endowment Fund of the Community Foundation of Henderson County,” Maurean Adams, the foundation’s director of development, said today.

According to Adams, the grant has been used to fund the Community Room in the park’s newly completed Welcome Center. The Welcome Center and Community Room will provide visitors to the Park with information about the Park’s amenities and offer a much needed space for Park volunteers and community groups to work and conduct events.

The Perry N. Rudnick Endowment Fund was established at the death of local philanthropist, Perry Rudnick, whose keen interests centered around conservation, education and activities for youth and elderly. “His philanthropic foresight has enabled many organizations in Henderson and surrounding counties to expand and complete programs to improve the quality of life in our area. The Community Foundation of Henderson County is pleased to provide this major grant to the new Park at Flat Rock,” stated Lee Henderson-Hill of the Community Foundation staff.

The Flat Rock Park and Recreation Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2013 by the Village of Flat Rock, North Carolina, to help raise the funds required to fulfill the vision of a signature municipal park for the community. That vision includes opportunities for recreation, health, and education for all generations while preserving the natural beauty that draws visitors from far and wide to Western North Carolina.

The Community Foundation of Henderson County was founded in 1982 and administers more than 500 funds with assets of over $90 million. Serving as a nonprofit, public charity, the Community Foundation helps donors who care make lasting contributions to causes that matters.
