Emily WhitmireEmily Whitmire is a passionate community advocate and proud native of Western North Carolina, deeply committed to improving the lives of those around her. With a Master of Social Work from Western Carolina University, Emily has dedicated her career to fostering meaningful connections and creating positive, lasting change in her community.

As an active member of the National Association of Social Workers North Carolina Chapter, Emily has championed behavioral health services, supported children and families through local nonprofit organizations, and worked with older adults as an Elder Justice Navigator. Her work is rooted in a profound commitment to building safe, nurturing communities where everyone can thrive.

Currently, Emily works in behavioral health and serves as an Adjunct Instructor in the Human Services Technology Department at a local community college, sharing her expertise with the next generation of human service professionals.

Emily lives in Flat Rock with her partner and their 2-year-old rescue dog from the Blue Ridge Humane Society. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and building Lego sets. She is eager to collaborate with the council, stakeholders, and the community to create a brighter, welcoming future for all.
