Adoption of the Budget Ordinance for FY 2009/10 The Village Council adopted the Budget Ordinance for FY 2009/10 (Ordinance #60) on Thursday June 11, 2009 at the Village Council Meeting. The adopted budget is now available on the ordinance page.
Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Ordinance Effective May 14, 2009, the Flat Rock Village Council approved new land use ordinances. The new Zoning Ordinance (Ordinance #58) and the new Subdivision Ordinance (Ordinance #59) supersede all previous land use ordinances. These ordinances are now available on the ordinance page.
Sign Control Ordinance At the Village Council meeting on April 09, 2009 the Council adopted the revised Sign Control Ordinance. This is ordinance No: 57 and is now available on the ordinance page.
Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance Approved The Village Council adopted a new Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance (Ordinance #56) on December 11, 2008. Following the meeting, the State of North Carolina was provided a certified copy of the ordinance and they subsequently submitted it to FEMA for approval. On the next day December 12, 2008 the Council was informed by the officials of the NC Division of Emergency Management that Flat Rock had been enrolled in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and that residents could obtain flood and mud-slide insurance immediately, if necessary. FEMA advised the Village officially that as of December 12, 2008 properties in this jurisdiction are eligible for this insurance. Click here to see a copy of the FEMA official notification letter. If you have questions, Council Member Ron Davis is the contact person and he can be reached at the Village Office at (828) 697-8100. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Cable Television Complaint Procedures As many residents know, the responsibility for the oversight of local television franchises transferred from municipalities to the state level about a year ago. In this transition the procedure for handling of complaints on service, etc. transferred to the State's Consumer Protection Division of the Department of Justice.
Here is how you file a formal complaint regarding cable television service.
First, you should take every step to resolve the matter with the company serving Flat Rock (Mediacom) - (888 333-4039). If you are unable to resolve the matter and feel assistance is required, you will need to take the following steps.

2) On the DoJ website, the first page is Cable TV Complaints : Information. At bottom of page is link to "FAQ's"
3) At the bottom of the FAQ page is a link, "To file a complaint"
4) At the bottom of the Filing a Complaint page is a link to "Instructions"
5) "Instructions" downloads a pdf file which may also be accessed by clicking here.
6) It will be necessary to download and complete the form and fax or mail it to the address shown on the form.
