Summer Internship Opportunity


 

Position: The Park at Flat Rock Summer Internship

Position Summary: The Park at Flat Rock Summer Intern, under the supervision of the Park Director, assists in the operation and maintenance of The Park at Flat Rock. Through his/her work, the intern will gain knowledge and build professional skills in the fields of recreation management.

Reports to the Park Director and Village Administrator.

Compensation and Work Schedule: $15.00 an hour, not exceeding 25 hours a week, May 23 through August.

General Duties Include:

  • Interacts with and answers questions of park users.
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of public programs.
  • Assists in the daily operations of park grounds and facilities.
  • Sets up for, interacts with, and cleans up after reservations of the park pavilion, community room, and park rentals.
  • As a visible presence in the park, interacts with public to encourage rules adherence.
  • Oversees park volunteers and assists with volunteer tasks.
  • Assists in resource management and invasive species removal.
  • Drafts and organizes social media posts.
  • Performs small maintenance/groundwork jobs as required.
  • Performs related tasks as required.

Skills and Physical Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, texting, and email.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, walk throughout the park, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Will be subject to inside and outside environments, including extremes in temperature. Several hours a day will be spent outside.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or be able to provide documentation of employment eligibility.
  • Represent the Park and the Village of Flat Rock in a positive and professional manner.

Applicants: This employee must be self-motivated and be able to work independently. This is a part-time position and job hours will vary. Must be able to work evening, weekend, and holiday hours as required. Applicant must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
